Daycare worker accused of hitting a child

Daycare worker accused of hitting a child

In Red Willow County, a situation occurred at BlessEng’s Childcare.

A mother accused one of the daycare workers of hitting her son. She says she had strong feelings about the incident when she found out.

“Shocked. Pure shock,” said Tesla Florom, the mother.

The video showing the incident is from a surveillance camera at BlessEng’s Childcare. The company’s owner was initially reluctant to release the footage, but agreed to allow NTV to show it as long as the faces were blurred.

The owner told me this employee resigned before the investigation began, and Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood is not filing charges.

Wood says that in his opinion the evidence is not sufficient to support a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt, which frustrates Florom.

“It’s very frustrating,” Florom said.

McCook Police told me they have completed an investigation and are currently working with the appropriate authorities to handle this situation.

Blesseng’s Childcare thanked Paul Wood and McCook Police for their work.

Florom says she will advocate for her child in the future and strengthen laws against child abuse.

“The fact that the city and the state feel like there isn’t enough evidence to charge the person who hurt him is absurd to me, and I feel like there needs to be some sort of adjustment to the laws of what is considered child abuse, because hitting a child in any form should be labeled as child abuse, especially in childcare,” said Florom.

The investigation closed last week without any action being taken.
