NOPD investigates armed robberies in French Quarter and Marigny

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans police said they “strongly suspect” one suspect committed four armed robberies in the French Quarter and Marigny on Wednesday evening (6/11).

The department reports that the armed robberies reportedly occurred over a span of more than three hours and were blocks apart.

Investigators say it started on the 700 block of Governor Nicholls Street around 7:23 p.m. A male suspect approached a man and a woman with weapons.

He demanded jewelry and money, which the duo provided before the suspect fled.

Minutes later, the suspect allegedly struck again at the nearby intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Royal Street.

The department reports that the suspect demanded that a third victim give him money. The victim gave him cash and the suspect left.

Around 10 p.m., about two hours after the second armed robbery, the suspect allegedly went to the 700 block of Frenchmen Street.

There he approached a man with a gun and demanded the man’s chain before ripping it off his neck.

The man fought back, protected his watch and forced the suspect to run away.

However, around 10:40 p.m., the suspect approached two men and two women and demanded their money at gunpoint. One victim gave him cash and he ran away.

The NOPD reports it is working to identify and locate the suspect.
