Community shocked after 68-year-old woman found in freezer and roommate arrested

A welfare check on an employee at a mobile home park had a gruesome outcome on Wednesday.

There was a woman who was found dead in a freezer in her house.

An arrest was made in connection with the death of a 68-year-old woman who lived at the mobile home park near Nellis and Vegas Valley Dr.

Daniel Roush, described as a possible roommate, was held at the victim’s home on Wednesday.

Roush appeared in court Thursday.

Court records show he has been charged with open murder.

Marsha Carr, who lives in the community, said she has known the victim for more than six years.

Carr also says, “It’s just scary. We’re old people. A lot of us live alone in the community.”

The victim was often seen walking her dog around the neighborhood.

Other neighbors told News3 the victim recently had a man and woman move in.

Kyle Pataki lives next door to the victim.

Pataki says he had never seen any roommates and didn’t know anyone other than ‘Monique’ was staying there.

Lt. Jason Johnasson says, “We do these welfare checks. We look for anything that fits the size of the person. We called a locksmith and found a body that matched the description of the person living in the house.”

The identification along with the cause and manner of death will be released by the coroner.

Roush will appear in court again next time.
