A man allegedly attacked a Jefferson County resident with an ax, arrested for attempted murder

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – On Wednesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a disturbance at a home.

The sheriff’s office said they arrived at a home in the 3400 block of Burnham Dr. around 8:45 a.m. arrived after a concerned neighbor called for help.

According to the sheriff’s office, 35-year-old Bradley Lindsey was reportedly walking down the street when he told a neighbor, “Call the police if they heard gunshots,” and then walked into a house. The neighbor, concerned about what she was told, immediately called 9-1-1.

When officers arrived, they found Lindsey and a 61-year-old man with injuries requiring medical attention. The sheriff’s office said they believe Lindsey may have attacked the other man with an ax.

The sheriff’s office said the homeowner, 74-year-old David Dick, said he didn’t know Lindsey but let him in anyway when he came to the door. Dick said he planned to legally evict the 61-year-old victim, who had lived with Dick for several years. When Lindsey went inside, he allegedly stated that he intended to “take care of” the victim.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was later treated and released. The sheriff’s office said Lindsey was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate this incident.
