Inspectorate finds four more schools in Norfolk need urgent repairs

The schools have been inspected about ceilings built using lath and plaster.

This method involves nailing strips of wood to walls and ceilings and covering them with plaster, which the authority says puts them at risk of cracking and collapsing if damaged.

Norfolk County Council said work was carried out at seven schools during the half term to minimize disruption.

Work was nearing completion at many of the other 11 schools, including Woodton Primary, which has been using the Woodton Parish Council hall for some lessons.

However, in one school where a staff room was affected, work has not yet started.

The authority said academies were responsible for their own maintenance programs and had written to trusts to alert them to the problem.
