Woman dies after motorcycle crash in Newark, police say

A woman died Thursday after a motorcycle accident on West Union Street in Newark.

According to police, a male driver and a female passenger were riding the motorcycle on the sidewalk around 4:43 p.m. when the driver attempted to return to the roadway.

The motorcycle’s rear tire struck the curb, causing the passenger to be thrown off and into a pole. Police confirmed she did not survive.

A witness at the scene, Myanna Ward, described how she and her mother performed CPR on one of the victims, describing the incident as sudden and intense. Newark police continue to investigate the crash.
