School closures, alternative bus routes due to flooded roads

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Many schools were closed or changed their bus routes Friday morning due to flooded roads.

Bulloch County

Bulloch County Schools will be open Friday morning and will follow their normal schedule, but an alternate bus transportation plan is now in effect. All dirt roads in Bulloch County are now closed to bus travel. The alternate bus route and bus stop plan used during Tropical Storm Debby is now in effect for all unpaved roads. School leaders say they expect possible bus delays. They also say you can use the mobile app “Edulog Parent Portal” to track updates about your child’s bus.

Candler County

Candler County Schools say there will be a change to the school transportation plan on Friday, November 8. If your home is located on a dirt road, your bus driver will contact you to arrange a convenient meeting point on a paved road. If you have not heard from your bus driver, please call 912-685-7302.

Oaktree Road is closed so parents must use the main entrance for drop-off and pick-up. They will guide you from there to the pond entrance/pickup.

Evans County

Evans County Charter School System is also adjusting bus routes. Click here for a full list of bus route changes.

Tattnall County

For Tattnall County Schools, the school district is asking that all parents of students transported to locations on unpaved roads meet the bus at the paved entrance Friday morning.

Students who cannot make it to the bus stop should bring a note to their teacher when they return to school.

Toombs County

Toombs County School District announced no changes to bus routes or start times Friday morning. School leaders said their transportation department and bus drivers have been monitoring the roads for the past 24 hours to ensure traveling to school will be safe. They encourage you to call the Toombs County School System Transportation Department if you have any questions.

Vidalia

All Vidalia City schools will be canceled Friday, November 8.
