‘Big winger’ makes decision on Man City transfer as Citizens ready to sell £100m star

Barcelona winger Raphinha has made his transfer policy clear over a potential move to Man City as they look to sell Jack Grealish, reports suggest.

The Citizens made just two signings in the summer transfer window, with Savinho joining from Troyes and Ilkay Gundogan from La Liga giants Barcelona.

Men’s city have made a good start in defending their Premier League title, with Pep Guardiola’s side losing their first game of the season 2-1 against Bournemouth this weekend.

This puts Man City two points behind Liverpool’s Arne Slot side, who are currently top of the Premier League, while the Citizens can boast the Premier League’s top scorer in the form of Erling Haaland, who has scored eleven goals in ten games .

One player who has not contributed as much as he would have hoped is Grealish, with the Man City winger only starting four games in the Premier League.

Grealish also played a small role last season. Guardiola only called on him ten times from the start of matches in the Premier League last season.

And there have been rumors that Grealish could now be sold While Man City are looking to recoup some of the £100m they paid Aston Villa for the England international in 2021.

Barcelona winger Raphinha – who has been in fantastic form for the Catalan giants this season – is one player linked with a replacement, but former Man Utd chief scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected in the Premier League, is “not convinced he would want to leave” the La Liga side.

Brown said Football insider: “I heard City could be looking at a big-name winger. They believe the squad could be strengthened in that position – that would be for next summer.

“They have Doku, Savinho, Jack Grealish and people like that, but there have been suggestions that they want to add a real game changer to their team.

“There is talk that Raphinha could be available if Barcelona are still struggling financially. I was a big fan of his when he was at Leeds, every time I saw him play he made a difference.

“But I was concerned that he didn’t seem to like the physical aspects of English football. Now he’s gone to Barcelona and he’s been fantastic for them, playing with some top players.

“So yes, I’m sure City would be interested, but I’m not convinced he would want to move away from Barcelona or back to England, as I’ve heard.

“Especially given the form he has put together there, it looks like he has become an important part of that team.”
