Danville School District Issues Another Safety Alert | News

DANVILLE – Danville School District 118 administration issued another safety alert to parents Thursday evening – this time for an elementary school student with a pocket knife.

The message from Assistant Superintendent of Primary Schools John Hart said: “This afternoon we were made aware of a student in possession of a small pocket knife on the bus. We identified the student, seized the knife and parents of the students directly involved have been notified. We are conducting a full investigation into the matter. The district takes all threats seriously as the safety of your child is our top priority.”

The warning was clarified Friday morning with another message to families in the school district.

“To clarify our phone message sent to families last night. The name of the school affected by the bus incident is Southwest Elementary School. The district was not made aware of the incident until the school was closed yesterday. We apologize for any inconvenience This may have been the cause. Thank you, District 118 Administration.”
