Speaking at a DAP-K Women’s Caucus meeting on Friday, November 8, Wamalwa expressed concern over Kenyan police officers being deployed far from home to tackle unrest in the Caribbean country as Kenya’s internal security challenges continue to rise.

Wamalwa called for the cancellation of the mission, a joint effort between the U.S. and Kenyan forces, and instead suggested that the U.N. take the lead in addressing instability in Haiti.

His comments were in response to growing tensions and increasing insecurity at home, including cases of kidnappings, femicide, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.

“While we take our officers more than 6,000 miles to Haiti to protect Haitians, we have left our women and children unprotected. So we would like to ask the new president and the new administration in the US to reconsider the Haiti issue; That mission and to actually ensure that the US and Kenyan led mission is canceled and a UN led mission is set up,” Wamalwa stated, stressing that Kenya must prioritize its internal security issues .
