G20 parliamentary speakers do not mention Ukraine in final document – Russian Senator – Russian politics and diplomacy

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The final document of the 10th G20 Summit of Parliamentary Speakers, which will take place in Brazil from November 4 to 8, does not mention Ukraine, says Konstantin Kosachev, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council (Upper House of Parliament).

“In our opinion, the outcome document of the current meeting of the Parliamentary G20 has proven to be close to what we would like, if not perfect. In this context I can say that it is Ukraine and the Ukraine crisis,” Kosachev said in an interview with the TV channel Vmeste-RF.

According to the senior Russian senator, this means that lawmakers “will be able to pay attention and devote their efforts to much more serious and important issues on the current international agenda.”

Speaking about the outcome of the meeting, Kosachev emphasized that the Parliamentary G20 was one of the most promising platforms for discussing international issues, and that the Russian delegation to the summit had demonstrated “the culture of parliamentary diplomacy and political dialogue.”

“I think we did our best and achieved everything we planned. The final document has proven effective. We delve deeper into topics such as the fight against poverty, our response to climate change and the digital agenda. The Parliamentary G20 has already started putting forward more specific recommendations on all these issues,” Kosachev concluded.
