Four key moments undermined Harris’ campaign against Trump

President Biden has created a series of blunders, mistakes and surprising remarks, as Vice President Kamala Harris rallied national support for her run for the Oval Office.

Biden campaigned for and endorsed Harris this cycle, but during the roughly 100-day Harris-Walz campaign he also made a series of mistakes that likely hurt her chances of winning the election. Biden initially ran for re-election this year, but dropped out in July as concerns grew about his mental acuity and age.

Fox News Digital examined the last 100 or so days of the campaign cycle, compiling the major missteps and surprising comments that became fodder for the Trump campaign before the 45th president was re-elected on Tuesday.

Biden calls Trump supporters ‘trash’

“Donald Trump has no character. He doesn’t care about the Latino community,” Biden said during a campaign call at the White House. “There was a speaker at his meeting recently called Puerto Rico a floating island of waste.

“The only trash I see floating out there are his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American.”

WHITE HOUSE ALTERED BIDEN’S ‘WASTE’ TRANSCRIPT DESPITE STENOGRAPHERS CONCERNS

Biden’s comments set off a lightning storm criticism from Republicans across the countrywith some comparing it to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s comment at a fundraiser during her failed 2016 campaign, which was seen as likely undermining her campaign.

The White House attempted to backtrack on Biden’s comment, saying it was specifically related to comments made during Trump’s massive rally at Madison Square Garden. Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, host of the popular podcast “Kill Tony,” sparked backlash after joking that Puerto Rico is a “floating island of trash” hours before Trump took the stage at Madison Square Garden.

“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporters at his Madison Square Garden rally as nonsense — and that’s the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden wrote in a message on X. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say.

Despite efforts to push back on the comments, Trump and his campaign leaned on the derogatory remark, with Trump donning a bright orange sanitization vest and climbing into a “MAGA” decorated garbage truck at a campaign event in Wisconsin.

Biden wears a Trump hat as he speaks to voters

Biden went viral on social media in September when he visited Pennsylvania voters at the Shanksville Fire Station on the anniversary of September 11 after participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the city’s memorial for United Airlines Flight 93.

While at the firehouse, he spoke to a Trump supporter and the man decided to put his pro-Trump hat on his head.

“BREAKING: Kamala did so bad in last night’s debate, Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat,” the Trump war room said on X of the footage.

“Right now, even Joe Biden is voting for President Trump,” Florida State Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis joked online.

“Joe Biden just put on a Trump 2024 campaign hat. This is not a joke… he actually did that,” wrote broadcaster Piers Morgan, with a monkey emoji in front of his eyes.

The White House has also confirmed this the footage was real and defended the bizarre scene in which Biden spread a message of unity among voters.

“At the Shanksville Fire Station, @POTUS spoke about the country’s problems bipartisan unity after September 11 and said we should get back to that. As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter, who then said that POTUS should put on his Trump hat in the same spirit. He wore it short,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates wrote on X.

In another unexpected clothing choice, first lady Jill Biden set social media on fire earlier this week when she wore a red-colored pantsuit to vote on Tuesday. Red is the color of the Republican Party, prompting commentators to joke that Jill Biden may have voted for Trump as a protest against Democrats calling on President Biden to quit the presidential race this summer.

Biden’s surprising comments on a Republican governor’s handling of a hurricane

When two hurricanes tore through the southeastern U.S. in October, Harris denounced Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ response to the natural disasters, with her campaign claiming his office rejected calls from the Harris team.

“People are in desperate need of support right now and are playing political games with this moment. In these crisis situations, these are the height of emergencies, it’s just completely irresponsible and selfish,” Harris told DeSantis reporters.

BIDEN UNDERMINES HARRIS’S CLAIM THAT RON DESANTIS POLITICIZES HURRICANE RESPONSE: ‘DOES A GREAT JOB’

Biden, a day after Harris’ comments, said the Republican governor was doing a “great job” and thanked him for his efforts to assist Florida residents.

“The governor of Florida has cooperated. He said he got everything he needed. I talked to him again yesterday and I said – no – you’re doing a great job, it’s all being done well, and we thank you for it,” Biden said. “There was a rough start in some places, but every governor, every governor – from Florida to North Carolina – has been fully cooperative and supportive.”

DeSantis later fired back at Harris’ claims that he was playing politics with the storm, accusing her of being the actual culprit of political gamesmanship.

“I worked on both of these hurricanes President Trump and President Biden. Neither has ever tried to politicize it. She has never called on the storms we have had since she was vice president, until now,” DeSantis said. ‘Why is she suddenly trying to parachute in and inject herself when she has never shown any interest in doing so? the past? We know it’s because of politics, we know it’s because of her campaign.”

“Harris isn’t even in the chain of command. She has no role in this,” DeSantis added. “The idea that I should worry about her when I’m focused on the task at hand is simply absurd.”

Biden bites a baby at a Halloween party

In another surprising incident during the election cycle, Biden was caught on camera playfully biting babies while dressed in Halloween costumes at a trick-or-treating event last month. Biden playfully biting the babies unfolded as Trump campaigned in Wisconsin while dressed in the decontamination vest, in a rebuke to Biden’s “garbage” comment.
