Worcester Co. Deputy Sheriff involved in head-on crash

WORCESTER CO., Md. – The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was involved in a head-on crash Friday morning.

According to police, the deputy was driving south on Racetrack Road when a GMC van reportedly left the TidalHealth Ocean Pines Campus on Cathage Road. The van crossed into the southbound lane and headed north, directly into the path of the officer’s car. The two vehicles then allegedly crashed head-on in front of the Shore Stop/Valero gas station.

The deputy was taken to Atlantic General Hospital for medical evaluation. The driver of the van was taken to TidalHealth.

We’re told they both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
