‘Donkey shocked’ after Mark Lifman was buried privately

Killed king of the underworld Mark Lifman was buried by his family in a secret ceremony on Thursday.

Close confidantes of the well-known businessman from Fresnaye were shocked to hear that they had not been invited.

The 57 year old man was shot and killed in a hail of bullets at Garden Route Mall on Sunday afternoon after spending the day on the golf course.

His murder set tongues wagging when police later made an arrest Gert Bezuidenhout and Johannes Jacobs who were caught in the shopping center parking lot shortly after the high-profile collision.

According to several IOL sources, his closest confidantes, such as Jerome “Donkie” Booysen and Andre Naude, were shocked to hear the news of his funeral on Thursday.

“Absolutely no one knew or was invited to his funeral. His two sisters came to identify his body this week and on Thursday they simply held a private ceremony without anyone knowing. Even his best friends like Donkie or Andre didn’t know anything and they were very shocked and disappointed because they didn’t get the chance to say goodbye.

“Mark was unmarried and had no children and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Pinelands, next to his parents’ graves. No one knows why this decision was made, but it is clear that even his legal team was not invited to the funeral,” the source told IOL.

Meanwhile, Lifman is a co-defendant in the murder trial “steroid king” Brian Wainstein will return to the Western Cape High Court on Monday, where the state is expected to produce his death certificate.
