‘Change clubs or you won’t be selected’ – Broos’ message to Bafana star

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos explained why he left Al Ahly star Percy Tau in his team.

The 72-year-old Belgian mentor announced on Thursday his 23-man selection that will compete in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next week.

Tau, who has been with the Red Devils for three years, has hardly played in the past twelve months. His lack of playing time has affected his form, which was evident at the 2023 Afcon.Mamelodi sunsets man scored one goal in the tournament, but fans criticized his performance.

Speaking to the media, Broos explained why Percy Tau was excluded from the Bafana team.

“You know Percy Tau isn’t playing anymore. He is always on the bench,” said the Bafana coach GOAL.

“Two months ago I said that the atmosphere at Al Ahly is not positive. They wanted to sell him. Then you have the critics on social media who weren’t happy with his performances at Bafana. “

Tau is not part of Bafana and Broos’ plans for the time being

“I don’t think this is the right time for Percy to be at Bafana, but that doesn’t mean he will never come back,” Broos added.

“I hope he can change clubs. I hope he can be in a more positive environment and deliver the performances we expect from him.”

A few weeks ago, Broos said Tau asked not to be called up to the Bafana squads until he felt he was ready to play. Al Ahly has dominated African football over the years and next year the Red Devils will again participate in the Club World Cup.

Where should Percy Tau move?
