Truck kills pedestrian in Olathe crash, police say

OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) – A woman was killed after a pedestrian accident in Olathe Thursday evening.

Olathe police said a crash involving a pedestrian and a pickup truck in the area of South Lone Elm Road and I-35 Highway resulted in the death of a 37-year-old woman.

OPD said the crash happened just after 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

When officers arrived, they found the woman, a pedestrian, unconscious. Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene, but she was later pronounced dead.

Police said the 57-year-old man driving the pickup remained at the scene and is cooperating with an investigation into the crash.

The crash led to a brief closure of the I-35 Highway at South Lone Elm Road Thursday evening. Anyone with information is asked to call Olathe police at 913-971-6363.
