Suspect arrested in death of man found shot outside Waterford Twp. cinema

Waterford Township police have arrested one person in connection with the death of a man shot outside the MJR Theater on Thursday.

Police received a 911 call about a man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot at 7501 Highland Road around 11:30 p.m., city police said in a news release.

Officers found the 28-year-old with a gunshot wound to the upper chest, the statement said. Waterford Regional Fire Services provided medical assistance at the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital.

Officials did not indicate when he died but described the incident as a homicide.

“This was not a random act,” police wrote.

Investigators have identified and arrested a 24-year-old man from West Bloomfield Township as the suspect.

The man was arrested and booked into the Oakland County Jail, according to the release.

Detectives are still investigating and looking for possible witnesses to the shooting. Officials ask that anyone with information about the incident call Detective Sergeant Sawyer at (248) 618-6108.

News of the arrest comes hours after Warren police announced an arrest research into the death of a man who was found dead on Friday.
