Man, 21, arrested for recent murder in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham police say a 21-year-old from Trussville has been arrested for a murder that happened on November 4.

Amauria Caffey was shot and killed in the 1600 block of 5th Street North.

Malik Farris is charged with murder, first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police say the theft and mischief charges stem from Farris’ actions after the shooting involving the Caffey’s property.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting resulted from an altercation earlier that day involving the Caffey’s family member and another person.

Farris is in the Jefferson County Jail without bond after turning himself in.
