The former One Direction star died on October 16 after falling from the third floor of his hotel room in Argentina.

Prosecutors told TMZ that suicide has officially been ruled out as the cause of the 31-year-old’s plummet from his suite at the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel, but was rather caused by the effects of drugs he had taken.

Payne’s autopsy revealed that he had several substances in his system at the time of his death, including a drug cocktail with the street name “pink cocaine.” ”

After several raids by local authorities, three people have been arrested in connection with Payne’s death, including a housekeeper at the hotel, an alleged drug dealer and one of his friends.

The final toxicology report found that the former One Direction singer had also ingested alcohol and prescription antidepressants within 72 hours of his death. “This conclusion was reached after the complete toxicological tests on urine, blood and vitreous humor,” said a press release from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecution Service No. 14.

The autopsy ruled that Payne’s official cause of death was “multiple trauma” and “internal and external hemorrhage” as a result of the fall.

Payne’s body was flown to his family in London on Wednesday, according to the BBC. An exact date for Payne’s funeral has not been made public.
