Missing man found dead under overpass at West Lincoln railroad property, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man who was reported missing in September was found dead at a railroad yard in West Lincoln on Monday.

Lincoln Police responded to the report of a body found under the Highway 77 overpass at the BNSF Hobson Yard, 801 West O Street, around 3:30 p.m.

It was determined to be 34-year-old Michael Atkins of Lexington, who was reported missing on September 11. LPD has notified his next of kin.

LPD said an autopsy was conducted Wednesday. Atkins’ death does not appear suspicious, but the cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
