Women accused of stealing thousands from elderly people in Hendersonville

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Two 22-year-old women are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly Hendersonville resident, according to Hendersonville police.

Police said Thursday that officers responded to a home burglary alarm and found the back door of the home shattered.

The victim reported that $7,000 had been stolen from a safe inside. Police said surveillance footage captured a vehicle near the home around the time of the alleged theft.

The vehicle was found passing by a license plate reader in the area before being spotted on surveillance video. Police determined the vehicle belonged to 22-year-old America Pena, known to HPD as the caregiver of an elderly resident who had recently moved out of the home.

According to HPD, Pena allegedly confessed to her role in the burglary, as well as a previous theft from the elderly resident while she was caring for them. A second suspect, 22-year-old Annie Saysombath, was also arrested and is said to have confessed to her involvement.

“Both subjects were charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property over $1,000, and vandalism. Pena was also charged with a second count of theft of property over $1,000 for the previous incident,” HPD explained.
