Manukau Southern Highway partially closed after accident

A section of the Southern Motorway in Auckland has been closed after a serious crash near Takanini, while a main road in Te Atatū was also closed.

Emergency responders were working at the scene of the two-car crash near the suburb of Conifer Grove on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m.

“Initial indications are that one person has been seriously injured,” police said in a statement.

“The highway is currently closed northbound in the area and diversions are in place.”

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area and find an alternative route.

A major road was also closed in Te Atatū on Saturday morning after a serious accident, police said.

The collision between a car and a pedestrian was reported to the emergency services around 11.40 am.

One person was seriously injured.

Te Atatū Road was closed between Titoki Street and Royal View Road. There were diversions and drivers had to take delays into account.
