Man shot on platform of MBTA Red Line Broadway Station

A man was shot on the platform of the MBTA’s Broadway Station early Friday evening and taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to Boston Police and Transit.

Around 5:30 p.m., transit police responded to reports of a person shot at the Red Line station. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his lower body, Police Chief Richard Sullivan said in an email.

The shooting temporarily closed the South Boston station while police investigated.

According to the MBTA’s X account, shuttle buses have replaced train service between Park Street and North Quincy.

The shooting remains under investigation.

No further information was available Friday evening.
