Vancouver power outage: Car crash leaves 2,953 in limbo

Thousands of BC Hydro customers are left in the dark after a collision.

A motor vehicle accident has led to a power outage affecting nearly 3,000 BC Hydro customers in Vancouver.

Just after 3 p.m. on Friday, November 8, BC Hydro informed customers on X, formerly Twitter, that it was dispatching crews to an outage affecting 2,953 customers in part of the Fairview neighborhood.

Power has been out in the area north of King Edward Avenue, east of Arbutus Street, west of Laurel Street and south of 6th Avenue since 2:49 p.m. fault map (see slide two).

Several storms As you roll through Metro Vancouver this weekend, more power outages may occur due to heavy rain and high winds.
