South Dakota's first non-tribal pharmacy announces closure

HARTFORD, SD (Dakota News Now) – On Thursday, the state’s first licensed cannabis dispensary announced on social media that they would be closing next month.

Unity Street. shared on Facebook that they and the Hartford Connection will end operations on December 7, citing the challenges the state’s cannabis industry has faced.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news Unity Street. And The Hartford Connection closes its doors on December 7. The journey has been challenging, as South Dakota’s cannabis industry has faced significant obstacles due to the state’s inability to create an effective medical cannabis program that truly benefits residents.

From the beginning, we went into this venture with high expectations, only to find the goalposts moved again and again. Despite our continued efforts to support and advance the cannabis movement in South Dakota, we believe now is the right time for us to step away from the industry.

As we prepare to close this chapter, we invite you to stop by December 6, 2024 to make the most of our remaining inventory. We extend our deepest gratitude to our customers, employees, industry peers and the community for your continued support throughout this journey.
