Man arrested after theft of several items, including about 20 fishing rods

WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a man has been arrested in connection with a property crimes investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to an address on West Oak Highway near Miller Farm Road on Wednesday, Nov. 8, regarding reports of a burglary. During the investigation, they discovered that a zero-turn lawn mower, approximately 20 fishing rods, and a washer and dryer had been stolen from the home’s carport.

The investigation was transferred to a property crimes investigator at the criminal investigation agency.

During the investigation, it was determined that 45-year-old John Justin Ward committed the crime at night.

Ward was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on charges of burglary and grand theft around 6:14 p.m.
