Police looking for man who robbed store with gun

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham police are seeking help identifying a man accused of robbing the Family Dollar on Bessemer Road in October.

Ken Atkinson with Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama says fortunately no one was injured during the incident, despite the suspect being armed with a gun. However, he expressed concern that future incidents could escalate.

The robbery occurred on the evening of October 30, 2024 in the 1300 block of Bessemer Road. Atkinson stated that they have received several tips, which have been forwarded to Birmingham Police Department detectives.

Nevertheless, this case remains open and they need the public’s help to solve it. He emphasized the seriousness of a situation where someone openly entered a store with a gun in his hand.

“It’s bad enough that a store is robbed, but if you’re a customer there, you can also get robbed or injured. This is clearly a dangerous individual who is willing to walk into a business with a long gun. He is not discreet, which should certainly cause public concern. Police need your help to identify him so charges can be filed against him,” Atkinson said.

As always, Crime Stoppers tips can be submitted anonymously, and if your information leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward.
