Santa Rosa police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving on Wednesday after he crashed into four vehicles parked at a football practice, injuring one person, officials said.

Officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the parking lot of A Place to Play community park, 2375 West Third St., around 4:45 p.m., where about 200 people, mostly families and children, were there, police said in a press release.

A gray Lexus sedan lost control after driving recklessly and collided with four parked vehicles, all occupied by parents waiting for their children’s soccer practice to end, police said.

One of the mothers suffered minor injuries to her head and shoulder. Medical personnel treated and released her at the scene.

Immediately after the collision, the driver of the Lexus, Santa Rosa resident Angel Uribe, attempted to flee to a nearby trail, but bystanders ran after him and physically restrained him until police arrived.

Uribe was on probation for a previous DUI for which he was convicted in 2023, as well as pretrial supervision for a DUI arrest on August 7.

He was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury; Collision under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent or higher, causing injury; collision causing injury; giving false identification information to a peace officer; driving with a license suspended for prior DUI; and violation of probation.

A Sonoma County Superior Court judge approved a higher bail due to the severity of the alleged offenses. Uribe is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
