A two-vehicle crash has left one dead and four injured in Santa Rosa County

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, FL (WALA– A 69-year-old man from Crestview, Florida, was killed and a woman seriously injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The wreck, which also injured three others, happened shortly after 4 p.m. on eastbound I-10 near the 23 mile marker.

According to the FHP, a sedan driven by a 75-year-old woman from Milton, Florida, was behind an SUV driven by a 72-year-old woman from Milton who were both driving in the outside lane of I-10. The driver of the SUV reduced speed due to other slowing traffic, but the driver of the sedan failed to slow down in time and struck the rear of the SUV, troopers said.

The left rear passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A 64-year-old Crestview woman, who was also a passenger in the SUV, suffered serious injuries. Meanwhile, the driver and a third passenger – a 63-year-old woman, also from Milton – suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.

Police said the driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries.
