EnergyUnited continues its strong commitment to providing emergency response in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which devastated parts of Western North Carolina. In a joint effort to aid recovery, EnergyUnited, its employees and the EnergyUnited Foundation have donated $41,000 to support disaster relief efforts in Western North Carolina.

EnergyUnited employees contributed $11,000, while EnergyUnited donated $5,000 to the Human Connections Fund, which provides support to people affected by natural disasters and is administered by the Electric Cooperatives of North Carolina. In addition to these donations, the EnergyUnited Foundation contributed $25,000 to Samaritan’s Purse, an organization with a proven track record of providing effective disaster relief.

In addition to the financial contributions, EnergyUnited also dispatched a team of more than 100 employees and contractors, including linemen and on-site support staff, to assist with reconstruction and restoration efforts in the hardest-hit areas. These crews are working closely with other cooperatives in the region to help restore power and provide critical support.

“The cooperative spirit is about more than supplying energy. It’s about serving people, especially in times of need,” said Thomas Golden, CEO of EnergyUnited. “The generosity of our employees, the contributions of the EnergyUnited Foundation and the dedication of our crews reflect this spirit. Together, we are proud to demonstrate our commitment to supporting recovery efforts in Western North Carolina.”

EnergyUnited will continue to monitor rebuilding efforts and work with electric cooperatives in Western North Carolina to help the hardest-hit areas recover.

About the EnergyUnited Foundation

The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded nonprofit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. More than 82,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ’rounding up’ their electricity bill each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions is pooled into a single fund administered by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families and essential nonprofit organizations who submit an application explaining the reason and purpose of the grant requested.
