Son stabs mother to death after dispute over move to Canada, says ‘sorry’ to father after murder

A 50-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her son after she refused to let him move to Canada for work. The incident took place in Molarband village in south-east Delhi’s Badarpur region, police said on Saturday.

Police confirmed that the identified suspect, Krishna Kant (31), called his father Surjeet Singh (52) and asked him to come home after killing his mother on the evening of November 6.

When Singh returned home, Krishna said ‘sorry’ to him and sent him upstairs to see what he had done, PTI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh as saying.

On reaching the first floor, Singh found his wife Geeta lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. During this time, the suspect fled the scene. Singh rushed Geeta to Apollo Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Police were accused of a history of drug addiction

The DCP noted that Singh has two sons. The youngest son, Sahil Bholi (27), works in a bank, while Krishna Kant is unemployed and has a history of drug addiction. “Both the sons are unmarried and at the time of the incident, only Geeta and the suspect were present at home,” the officer said.

Later, Krishan Kant was arrested from the same area and a murder case was registered against him, the officer added.

During interrogation, he admitted that he wanted to migrate to Canada, but his family insisted that he get married first. On the day of the incident, an argument escalated resulting in Krishna Kant stabbing Geeta with a knife he had bought earlier, police said.
