Waterford man arrested for allegedly stealing two vehicles in Halfmoon

New York State Police say they have arrested Caleb Dejong, 19, of Waterford, for allegedly stealing two vehicles from a Halfmoon business.

Troopers received a report around 9:41 a.m. on Nov. 4 that two vehicles had been stolen from a business in Halfmoon.

An investigation revealed that Dejong allegedly damaged part of the company’s building to retrieve the keys to vehicles parked there, state police said.

Authorities say he allegedly used the keys to steal the two vehicles from the business’ parking lot.

The two vehicles were later located and recovered unoccupied in Halfmoon. According to police, the license plates were missing from one of the vehicles when they were recovered.

Officials say Dejong was arrested in Clifton Park and taken to State Police for treatment. He was then taken to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office for pending charges unrelated to this investigation.

Dejong was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court on all charges and released on his own recognizance.

Following his arraignment, police say he was turned over to the Albany Police Department to face additional, unrelated charges with their agency.
