Two families rebuild after losing pets in house fire in Cumberland County

The fire broke out around 10:50 p.m. and left both families in the duplex without their belongings.

“We heard a cracking sound. When we heard the cracking sound, I looked out the window and saw an orange glow in the corner of the window,” said homeowner Christopher Dennis. “That’s when I told her to get my son. We all ran downstairs and I could see a fire breaking out on the porch.”

Both families involved lost their pets, including two dogs and two cats, which were killed in Dennis’ home. The fire did not spread to their neighboring home, but smoke damage destroyed everything in Kate Moyer’s home.

“I didn’t get a lot of fire damage, but everything, everything stinks,” Moyers said. “It will probably be five to six months before we can possibly get back into that house.”

All families involved are asking for donations. You can help the Moyers family by donating to them GoFundMe. To help Christopher and his family, you can donate to them via Venmo at @cmd121576.
