Case against director Ranjith; Complainant identifies the hotel where the assault occurred

Bengaluru: The complainant has identified the hotel while collecting evidence in the sexual harassment case in which director Ranjith was named as an accused. Further procedures will follow on Sunday. On Saturday, police took the complainant to various hotels in Bengaluru city for evidence collection and the man identified the hotel during the night.

The complaint stated that he was harassed at a hotel in Bengaluru in December 2012. The case, registered by the Kasaba police in Kozhikode, was transferred to the Bengaluru airport police.

The Kasaba police had filed a report sexual assault case against director Ranjith, ffollowing a complaint from a young man from Kozhikode. This case adds to the previous allegations of a Bangladeshi actress.

The FIR alleged that Ranjith sexually assaulted the young man in a hotel room, with charges including unnatural sexual offenses. According to the complaint, the young man first met Ranjith in 2012 on the sets of the film ‘Bavuttiyude Namathil’, when he was a twin student. The complaint states that Ranjith later invited him to a five-star hotel in Bengaluru, promising a role, where the attack allegedly took place.

The young man reported the incident at the Kasaba police station in Kozhikode and said that he had informed a prominent actress about the assault the same day but received no response.

Earlier, a Bengali actress had also accused Ranjith of sexual assault, leading to his dismissal as president of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy.
