Investigation launched after woman was found dead in Penrith hotel room next to man in critical condition

Authorities have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead in a hotel room next to a man with cuts to his arms in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to the Pullman Hotel on Mulgoa Road, Penrith, at around 1.10pm on Sunday after the woman’s body was discovered next to the injured man.

The man – believed to be in his 50s – was treated by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The deceased woman has yet to be formally identified.

Authorities have cordoned off a crime scene as investigations by local detectives and the State Crime Command’s homicide unit continue.

The man is currently being held under police guard.
