The so-called “Trump Victory Convoy” left White Oak Drive shortly after 10 a.m. and was organized by the New Oakmont Conservatives Club and the Sonoma County Republican Party.

Participants, many of whom wore signature red Make America Great Again hats, were encouraged to wave Trump flags and deck out their cars with banners and balloons to celebrate the occasion, according to a flyer provided by the Republican Party sent.

A Cybertruck, an old Willits police car and a few dozen other decorated vehicles drove through downtown Santa Rosa and along Highway 101 and Highway 12. Throughout the route, the convoy was greeted with cheers from supporters and boos from opponents – and occasionally. and occasionally a middle finger, participants told the Press Democrat.

Santa Rosa residents Deanna and Dennis Byrd decided to get involved after receiving an email from the local Republican Party.

“We were born and raised here and we have seen the progress,” Deanna Byrd said. “We love it and would like to continue this.”

When asked why they supported Trump this election, they said the president-elect “checks all their boxes.”

“We just need to get America back on track,” she said.

Previous reporting by the Press Democrat revealed that 25% of people in Sonoma County voted for Trump, compared to 72% who supported opponent Vice President Kamala Harris.
