Former Middie critical after accident

Armandt Rediker (24) is currently in the high care unit of Netcare Pholoso Hospital in Polokwane after suffering a broken spine, minor brain haemorrhage, internal bruising, a punctured lung and broken ribs.

According to Armandt’s friend, Francois Reyneke, he was traveling with friends from Buffelsvlei to Burgersfort on Friday when the driver lost control of the steering wheel in a bend on the Lydenburg/Burgersfort road.

Armandt, who was in the back of the vehicle, was thrown from the car into a rock, causing serious injuries.

Friends and family have created a BackABuddy profile for Armandt to raise money for his surgery and rehabilitation as he is without medical care.

Armandt’s mother, Marinda van Coppenhagen, told the Middelburg Observer that she has not yet been able to visit her son due to financial constraints.

The car Armandt and his friends were riding in at the scene of the accident.

Armandt and his family are former residents of Middelburg, but Armandt moved to Burgersfort after school for work.

Marinda and her husband Barney currently live in Potchefstroom.

The family must reach a target amount of R87,000 to help pay his medical bills.

Anyone who can help with donations can visit the following BackABuddy profile:

• Armandt was one of three people in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The driver of the car suffered a broken shoulder, ankle and shin.

The other occupant received a light blow to the head.
