Auburn man faces charges for alleged relationship with minor

An Auburn man has been charged with rape following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

According to reporting by The Citizen, Auburn Police received information in February suggesting an adult male was involved with a female minor in the area. The investigation found that Sakai T. Grimes, 22, was allegedly misrepresented his age to the minor, leading her to believe he was younger.

Police determined he was 21 during the relationship. Grimes was arrested on Monday in Syracuse after a months-long investigation and charged with two counts of third-degree rape and four counts of third-degree criminal sexual act, both Class E felonies.
