The Maple Leafs announced Monday that the veteran forward has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and will be listed on a week-to-week basis.

Pacioretty was injured late in the first period during the Leafs’ 4-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. He clutched his left leg, possibly his hamstring, as he staggered off the ice.

At the end of the period, 35-year-old Pacioretty had to be helped off the ice by teammates.

Additionally, neither William Nylander nor Max Domi were on the ice for practice. The Leafs said both were absent for maintenance reasons.

Defenseman Jani Hakanpaa, who has been with the Toronto Marlies on an LTIR conditioning loan as he works his way back from a knee injury, was a participant in the training.

With the forwards absent, depth defenders Philippe Myers and Matt Benning took turns between the forward lines.

Connor Dewar, who is about to return from offseason shoulder surgery, skated with Mitch Marner and Matthew Knies.

The Leafs have been strong defensively over the last three games and will look to carry that into Tuesday night when they host the Ottawa Senators.

After losing five of their previous seven games, the Senators defeated the Boston Bruins in overtime on Saturday.
