Hyderabad man sentenced to life in prison for raping 17-year-old | Hyderabad News

Man convicted of raping teenager, given life sentence

Hyderabad: The Fast Track Court for Pocso cases in Rangareddy district on Monday convicted a 32-year-old man for raping a Lambada girl in LB Nagar in May 2018 and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Kanakala Rajesh for kidnapping and raping the minor girl. The court awarded the survivor Rs 10 lakh. According to police, the convict, who worked as a taxi driver, trapped the girl, who was in a secondary study program, and professed his ‘love’. He kidnapped the 17-year-old girl, took her to Visakhapatnam, married her and raped her several times. Later, he took her to the city, dropped her at Secunderabad railway station and fled.
Initially, a missing case was registered and later charges of rape and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act were added based on the survivor’s statement. The convict was arrested.
During the trial, the court examined the survivor, her parents and medical evidence and declared the convict guilty of the crime.
