A death investigation is underway after a couple and two dogs were found shot to death in a Colorado home

CONIFER, Colo. (KKTV) – An investigation is underway after two seniors and their dogs were found dead in a Conifer home last weekend.

Firefighters made the grisly discovery after the couple’s daughter stopped by the house Sunday evening, concerned about several calls to her parents going unanswered.

“The doors were locked and when the daughter looked through a window, she saw her father lying on the ground and called 911,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Firefighters entered the house and found the bodies of two 67-year-olds and the dogs. They had all been shot.

While the deaths remain under investigation, the sheriff’s office says it is not looking for suspects in the case.

The couple has not yet been identified at the time of writing.
