Driver dies after entering river in Waushara County

RICHFORD, Wis. (WBAY) – The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction team is investigating an accident last weekend that left a car in a river.

The 911 center was notified of a crash on 11th Rd just before 5:30 Saturday morning. between Cypress Rd. and County Highway JJ in Richford.

Rescuers found a car submerged in the Mecan River.

The Waupaca Fire Department Dive Team responded, along with Waushara County Fire and EMS personnel.

They found one person in the car and attempted life-saving measures at the scene.

The person died at the hospital from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said. Their names are being withheld until family members are notified.
