Man charged with murder of de facto partner in October

A 31-year-old man was charged in October with the murder of his 28-year-old de facto partner, allegedly assaulting and strangling the victim, leading to her death.

Anare Vuli Ciliceva is said to have murdered his de facto partner in Raiwaqa last month.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, 19 people have been charged in the past month with a total of 22 charges of non-sexual violence.

There were two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, 4 aggravated robbery, 3 aggravated burglary, 1 burglary, 4 theft, 1 arson, 1 attempted arson, 1 reckless or negligent act, 1 act with intent to cause serious harm causing, 1 careless driving and 2 breach of bail.

There were 15 victims and 19 suspects, including a minor and a police officer.

Two incidents occurred in which the suspect and the victim were related.

A 36-year-old man was charged with the attempted murder of his 39-year-old brother.

There was one incident where a 41-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were charged with the murder of a 29-year-old man, but this case was dropped due to insufficient evidence.

A 26-year-old police officer was charged with reckless driving.

In other cases, cash and various items were stolen during the alleged aggravated robbery and aggravated burglaries, which included home and shop burglaries, garage burglaries and round-the-clock street robberies.

There was one incident where a 17-year-old boy was charged with burglary, theft and breach of bail.

A 33-year-old man was charged with arson for allegedly setting fire to Fiji Pine Ltd’s commercial plantation of 58,794 pine trees.

In another incident, a 29-year-old man was charged with attempted arson, allegedly setting fire to a suitcase under a 69-year-old woman’s home while knowing the house was likely to catch fire.

A 22-year-old man was charged with reckless or negligent act, alleging the man recklessly failed to take precautions against any likely danger and started a fire in front of a kava shop.

Five cases were withdrawn after terminations were filed due to insufficient evidence.
