Second graders recognized for heroic actions

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – South Floyd Elementary second-graders Keaton Johnson and Bennett Johnson were recognized for their heroic actions during a choking incident.

On Wednesday, the boys took action when they noticed their classmate choking on a piece of hard candy. They successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver and ultimately helped their friend.

The incident happened during class when the boys saw their friend showing signs of choking.

South Floyd Elementary and Floyd County Schools will honor Keaton and Bennett for their actions at the Board of Education’s next scheduled meeting on Nov. 25.
