A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor girl in a village here, police said on Monday. The victim had stomach pains, prompting her parents to have her medically examined. This showed the 14-year-old was pregnant, they said.

Mahilpur police station officer Raman Kumar said the 40-year-old suspect has been arrested and further investigation is underway.

According to police, the girl told her parents that she had been attacked by a man from their village. Mahilpur station house officer (Sub-Inspector) Raman Kumar said the suspect has been arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Further investigation is underway, he added.
