Former Lakeland Behavioral Health employee convicted of sex crimes involving a minor

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A former Lakeland Behavioral Health employee accused of receiving nude photos of a patient has been sentenced.

According to court records, on Friday, 42 years old Mark McMannamy was sentenced to eight years for two separate cases of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators say McMannamy admitted to knowing the girl was a teenager after seeing her hospital records. They say he bribed the girl with a vape pen to get those photos.

Investigators say the girl claimed he asked her to perform sex acts, which she refused. While being questioned, detectives said McMannamy said he knew youth admitted to Lakeland had often had problems with past sexual violence and controlling sexual behavior.

Lakeland Behavioral Health shared this statement at the time of his arrest:

“Lakeland Behavioral Health has a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior of any kind at our facility. The privacy, safety and well-being of our patients and employees are our top priority. We have terminated the employee and are fully cooperating with law enforcement in this matter. We refer you to the Springfield Police Department for additional information regarding this situation.”
