In a Friday post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that Newsom is “trying to KILL our nation’s beautiful California.”

“He’s using the term ‘Trump-Proof’ as a way to shut down all the GREAT things that can be done to ‘Make California Great Again,'” Trump said.

It was often the attorneys general who pushed and pushed back on Trump’s policies during his first presidential administration. Trump also seemed to suggest he will try to change the way elections are run in California, even though the U.S. Constitution gives that power to the states.

He wrote that “as ‘AGENT’ for the United States of America in the area of voting and elections, I will require that voter identification and proof of citizenship be a necessary part and parcel of the voting process!”
