Police Reports – Butler Eagle

The following items were collected from various police forces:

Adams Twp

Oct. 8 – Raymond J. Vinson, 59, of Valencia, was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving with a suspended license and habitual offender in connection with an Aug. 26 theft investigation. Police said that while reviewing security footage, they saw Vinson drive into the Sheetz parking lot. Police said they know Vinson’s license has been suspended and he has been classified as a habitual offender. Police said Vinson also stole a 15-pack of beer, valued at $13. Police added a misdemeanor retail theft charge to his charge.

Butler

Oct. 9 – Dawn D. Kummer, 53, of Butler, was charged with theft and possession of stolen property in connection with the Sept. 10 incident at Sheetz on Center Avenue. Police said Kummer searched a woman’s purse while she was caring for her children, and allegedly stole cash and stashed the purse in one of the store’s coolers.

Oct. 8 – John E. Kuhn, 65, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a public intoxication complaint on Walker Avenue on Sept. 1. Police said when they found Kuhn, he started digging through his pockets. Police said they searched him and found him with three stamp bags containing suspected heroin or fentanyl and a glass pipe.

Oct. 8 – Anthony C. Carben, 50, of Butler, was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with an Oct. 8 incident on West Pearl Street. Police said Carben yelled in front of officers at a woman who called 911 about him. Police say he shouted racial slurs about her children and called the woman derogatory names. Police said they advised Carben to stop yelling and stay with them while they investigated. Police said Carben tried to leave the area several times to go to his apartment. Police said when they confronted him about his attempts, he took an aggressive step toward officers, forcing them to take him to the ground.

Butler County Detectives

Oct. 8 – Dartavion A. Johnson, 19, of Butler, is charged with aggravated assault by an inmate and two counts of terroristic threats in connection with a Sept. 27 incident at the Butler County Jail. Police said Johnson threatened several times to harm a security guard and spit on guards.

Oct. 8 – Sarah L. Rodney, 39, of Mars, was charged with one felony count of falsifying a urine test in connection with an Oct. 3 investigation by her probation officers. Police said Rodney kept clean urine in a vial and tried to use it during a routine test.

State Police, Butler

Oct. 17 – Keilynn A. Shaffer, 37, of New Kensington, was charged with misdemeanor DUI in connection with an Aug. 22 car crash in Connoquenessing Township. Police said Shaffer was hospitalized after the crash and a later blood test showed fentanyl in her system.

7:19 a.m. October 14 – Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Waldron Avenue in Evans City. Police said a garbage truck struck a tree branch, bringing down a power line. Police said the driver was uninjured and the truck drove away.

6:29 a.m. Oct. 11 – Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township. Police said Morgan E. Griffith, 28, of Sharon, struck a dead deer, causing her to leave the road and overturn the vehicle. Police said Griffith was taken by ambulance to a hospital in New Castle.

5:39 PM October 10 – Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 422 near the intersection with Route 68 in Summit Township. Police said Robert S. Morrill, 58, of Evans City, was speeding when he rolled his vehicle onto the passenger side and struck a utility pole.

3:47 PM October 10 – Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on the North Main Street Extension in Center Township. Police say an unknown driver crashed into a building and fled the scene.

Oct. 7 – Robert P. Romine, 48, of Pittsburgh, was charged with misdemeanor DUI in connection with a Sept. 19 report of a disabled vehicle. According to police, initial checks showed there was an active arrest warrant for Romine. Police said field sobriety tests showed Romine was impaired, and a later blood test showed buprenorphine and benzoylecgonine in his system.

Oct. 7 – Ferdinand C. Heckathorn, 34, of Pleasantville, is charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest in connection with a June 13 traffic stop on Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township. Police said when they asked Heckathorn to perform field sobriety tests, he refused to exit his vehicle. Police said officers had to remove him from the vehicle and Heckathorn refused to perform field sobriety tests. According to police, Heckathorn then resisted arrest. A later blood test showed marijuana in his system.

Oct. 7 – Daniel P. Villaire, 65, of Butler, is charged with theft in connection with an Aug. 10 report of a man dumping trash in a dumpster and urinating in public outside Dollar General in Brady Township. Police said the store manager saw Villaire dumping his personal trash in the store’s dumpster. Police said that after they told him to stop, Villaire went to his car, got his dog out of the car, walked around the dumpster and started urinating.

5:15 PM October 1 – Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 228 near the intersection with Victory Road in Clinton Township. According to police, both vehicles were stopped at a traffic light in the same lane. Police said Philip A. Myers, 37, of Kittanning, began driving forward while the vehicle in front of him, driven by Dustin J. Mochanski, 52, of Sarver, remained stationary. Police said Myers’ vehicle struck the rear of Mochanski’s. No injuries were reported at the scene, but Myers’ vehicle had to be towed.

State Police, Kittanning

5:15 PM October 12 – Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 422 in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County. Police said Erin S. Oluschak-Ray, 55, of Butler, struck a guardrail when lanes shifted in a construction zone. Police said Oluschak-Ray was uninjured in the crash.
