Firefighters carry the injured man on a stretcher for five kilometers after an accident at Sabah farm

KOTA KINABALU: Firefighters carried a seriously injured man on a stretcher for five kilometers from a farm to the main road to transport him to Kota Belud district hospital on Tuesday morning (Nov 12).

The 27-year-old was pinned under a tree while carrying out logging work as part of farm clearance in Kampung Tandakon, Kota Belud.

A team of ten firefighters from the Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Department responded to a distress call received at 10:34 am.

They arrived at the scene at 11:11 a.m., about 14 miles away.

“When we arrived, the victim was trapped under the tree. We quickly got him out, administered first aid and carried him on a stretcher to the main road, where he was then taken to the district hospital,” a department spokesperson said.

The operation was called off at 3.07pm after it was assured the area was safe and free from further risks.
