Bookies’ favorite Frank Lampard has disappeared from the managerial circuit since leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2022-2023 season

One big question tonight will undoubtedly be, “Who’s next, Doug?”

Looking at the latest odds from the bookmakers and some tabloid headlines, Frank Lampard is currently the odds-on favourite.

Former Sky Blues star Robbie Keane has also been mentioned as a contender, following his managerial experiences in the Indian Super League and at Maccabi Tel Aviv, which ended in June.

But neither seems to fit the kind of ‘head coaching’ role the club advertised when they made the decision to part ways with Robins last Thursday morning.

The club said it would “take time to appoint a successor to Mark, although the position will be that of Head Coach and will work within the new structure the Club has put in place over the past two years.”

Sounds more like a role for potential young hungry applicants such as Matt Bloomfield, boss of League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers, who has also been linked.
